Some female SPI (sculpture, performance, installation) students and I have created an exciting new collective called ‘Show me your teeth’. Last Wednesday the 5th of November we had our debut performance as apart of the bound exhibition at the Chrissie Cotter Gallery which was run by Monster Mouse.
‘Show me your teeth explores ‘bound’ as both physical act and barrier preventing progress and movement through a feminist performance piece. The body and identity are key themes Show me your teeth work with. in This work the body is utilised as a metaphor for identity, the body is bound, controlled and therefore the identity that belongs to it is controlled too.’
I was the ‘every women’ dressed in black intertwining the stereotypical women together until ultimately becoming tangled and bound together. I pretty happy how it went and super excited for what we have the possibility to create in the near…
